Could Messi Be Set To Reunite With Barcelona?

-

Despite his initial reluctance to leave, Lionel Messi departed Barcelona in the summer of 2021 due to the club’s dire financial situation. The Argentine subsequently inked a two-year deal with the French giants Paris Saint-Germain, where he experienced a mixed time. Despite winning two Ligue 1 titles with PSG, Messi had difficulties settling in the French capital and eventually opted not to extend his contract with the club.

Following his departure from PSG at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, the World Cup winner was linked with a potential return to Barcelona. Nevertheless, this highly anticipated comeback failed to materialize, and Messi instead made a surprising move by joining MLS franchise Inter Miami on a free transfer. During his brief stint in Florida, Messi has made a huge impression

Despite helping Inter Miami secure the Leagues Cup in August, the 36-year-old superstar has been sidelined due to injury in recent weeks, and although he made his return off the bench against Cincinnati recently, he experienced his first loss as an Inter Miami player and a playoff spot is now out of reach.

Messi’s domestic season will conclude this month, leading to speculation about a possible loan move back to Barcelona in January. Barcelona teased the prospect of a reunion with Messi through the club’s Instagram account. They shared images that vividly evoke some of Messi’s most iconic goal celebrations during his illustrious tenure with the La Liga club.

Messi enjoyed remarkable success during his time at Barcelona, amassing numerous accolades, including 10 La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies. He remains Barcelona’s all-time leading scorer, having netted an astounding 672 goals in 778 competitive appearances for the Catalan giants.

Could Messi make a shock return to Camp Nou?
