Golden State Warriors Sign Robinson to Training Camp Deal

-

The Golden State Warriors have reached an agreement to sign guard Jerome Robinson to a training camp deal, according to reports. Robinson, the 13th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, brings his experience from playing 113 games with the Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards.

Robinson’s career trajectory has seen ups and downs since entering the league. In his rookie season with the Clippers, he struggled to find his rhythm, averaging a modest 3.4 points in a limited role. Subsequently, Robinson was traded to the Wizards in a three-team deal involving Isaiah Thomas in 2020.

During his time in Washington, Robinson showed improvement, posting 7.4 points per game on 36.1 percent shooting from the field across 38 contests. However, the Wizards waived him in April 2021. Robinson’s fortunes changed when the Santa Cruz Warriors claimed him off waivers in January 2022.

In the G League, Robinson had an opportunity to showcase his skills with the Santa Cruz Warriors. In 24 regular-season games, he made significant contributions, averaging 14.8 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.3 rebounds in 29.2 minutes per game. He displayed efficiency by shooting 46.3 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from beyond the arc.

Robinson’s signing presents him with an opportunity to compete for a spot on the Golden State Warriors’ roster. The team currently has two open slots, but due to their financial situation and a luxury tax burden, they are expected to fill only one. As Robinson has exceeded three years of NBA service time, he is ineligible for a two-way contract.

The Warriors are scheduled to commence their training camp later this fall. As part of their preseason preparations, they will face off against the Los Angeles Lakers in two exhibition games on October 7 and October 13.

The training camp will provide an ideal platform for Robinson to showcase his skills and make a case for securing a permanent place on the Warriors’ roster. With the guidance of the coaching staff and the opportunity to learn from the talented players on the team, Robinson will aim to make a lasting impression during camp.

The Golden State Warriors have a history of nurturing talent and maximizing players’ potential. With their emphasis on player development, Robinson will have a chance to prove himself and potentially earn a place on the regular-season roster. The team’s success and championship aspirations make this training camp an important opportunity for Robinson to demonstrate his abilities and contribute to the Warriors’ pursuit of greatness.
