Aston Villa have signed forward Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough for a fee reported to be £8million rising to £16m.
The 21-year-old joined the Teessiders six months ago from Manchester City but has made a big impression for the Championship club, scoring seven goals and assisting in another eight this season.
Having started out at nearby West Brom, England youth international Rogers joined City in 2019 but failed to make a single senior appearance.
He got plenty of experience out on loan, however, enjoying spells at Lincoln, Bournemouth – with whom he secured promotion to the Premier League – and Blackpool.
He joins a Villa side still pushing to qualify for next season’s Champions League under Unai Emery. They sit fifth, three points behind Manchester City in second.
