Tottenham are set to be without key duo James Maddison and Micky van de Ven until the new year, according to boss Ange Postecoglou.
Both players sustained injuries during Monday night’s chaotic 4-1 defeat at home to Chelsea, centre-half Van de Ven pulling up with a hamstring problem while playmaker Maddison had to go off with an ankle issue.
Postecoglou, who was today named the Premier League Manager of the Month for the third successive time, said: “There’s a fair bit that’s happened after Monday night.
“Micky has a hamstring injury that we knew was fairly significant. We’re looking at a couple of months for him, so into the new year.
“Madders is a lot worse than we first thought. Again he came off with the ankle injury and it was bad the next day. So, again into the new year with him.”
Tottenham will also be without Brazil forward Richarlison for a few weeks after he underwent an operation on a groin injury.

Postecoglou added: “With Richarlison, the operation we had scheduled anyway but with the international break coming up, we thought it was a good time to get it done. So, with him it’s a month out.”
The injuries will further deplete a small squad but Postecoglou refused to speculate on how it will affect his plans in the January transfer window.
“My focus is…we’ve still got a fair few games between now and January,” he said.
“The plan for January has been in the works for a while. We’ve just got to keep working to the plan we started with. We’ve only had one window to try to build a team which was never going to happen. We have to stick to the plan, whether that’s January, the summer or beyond.”
