Qatar Stars Leage side Al Duhail have officially announced the appointment of former Paris Saint-Germain manager, Christophe Galtier as their new boss.
Galtier replaces former Argentina, Chelsea and AC Milan striker Hernan Crespo with the Qatari outfit, penning a two-year contract with the club.
The 57-year-old departed Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract in the summer, leaving them as French champions and being replaced by former Barcelona and Spain manager, Luis Enrique.
Galtier was arrested in the summer and questioned as part of an investigation into suspicions of racial and religious discrimination, with regards to his time as manager of Nice, where he is accused of suggesting there were too many black and Muslim players in his Nice squad by the Nice’s former Director of Football, Julien Fournier.
Galtier, who spent the majority of his playing career playing in France with the likes of Marseille, Lille, Toulouse, Angers and Nimes, began his managerial career with Saint-Etienne in 2009.
After eight seasons with ASSE, in which he won the Coupe de la Ligue, he moved to Lille and spent four seasons with the northerners. In his final season, he managed to lead Lille to one of the more surprising league titles in recent memory on the continent, knocking PSG off their perch in 2021.
After one season spent with the aforementioned Nice, he joined PSG in 2022 and spent just one season in the French capital. His tenure began well before the break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup but ended in acrimony, despite the Parisiens winning the league title, just a couple of points ahead of Lens.
His Al Duhail side consists of some notable names such as Philippe Coutinho, on loan from Aston Villa, as well as Ruben Semedo and Ibrahima Diallo. They are currently fourth in the QSL with three victories and a draw in their opening five matches.
