Harry Kane is the best striker in world football, according to former England international Joe Cole.
Bayern Munich’s Kane scored in the Three Lions’ 2-0 win over Malta on Friday, taking his England tally to 62 and moving him onto 33 goal contributions in 20 appearances for club and country this season.
He has enjoyed a stunning start to life with Bayern since joining from Tottenham in August, currently averaging a goal every 57 minutes in the Bundesliga and on course to break Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a season in the competition, already on 17 after just 11 matches.
Cole believes Kane is the top striker in the world, telling Channel 4: “I think he’s the best number nine in the world, I really do.
“We’re lucky to have him. Enjoy him while he’s still here because he’s past 30 now and he won’t be here forever.
“Now is the time to shine for him. Go and win some trophies over there [with Bayern] and come back and win the Euros with us.”

Only Xavier Simons (six) has more Bundesliga assists this season than Kane’s five, and Lescott believes it is the England international’s creative side that makes him stand out.
When asked who was the best striker in world football, Lescott replied: “I think there’s an argument for [Erling] Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo still, but he’s [Kane] definitely the most complete.
“If you compare him to other strikers, his contributions to goals are higher than everybody else’s because he generates assists for the team.
“I don’t think there will ever be a question of him being an all-time great.”
