Nottingham Forest captain Joe Worrall has joined Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas on a loan-to-buy deal.
Worrall made his Forest debut in 2016 and has gone on to make 226 appearances for his hometown side, becoming club captain following their promotion from the Championship in 2022.
The centre-back appeared in 30 of Forest’s 38 Premier League games last season as they narrowly avoided relegation under Steve Cooper.

However, he has been limited to just seven league appearances this term, only playing one minute as a substitute – in a 3-1 win over Newcastle United on Boxing Day – in the league since Nuno Espirito Santo replaced Cooper in December.
With the mid-season transfer window not closing for Turkish clubs until Friday, Nuno confirmed Worrall was set to move to Istanbul during a press conference on Monday.
The club then announced the deal had been finalised later that day, with Besiktas holding an option to make Worrall’s move to Turkey permanent at the end of the campaign.
Besiktas are currently third in the Turkish Super Lig, though they trail Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce and Galatasaray by 24 points with 14 games remaining in 2023-24.
