Sweden midfielder Kristoffer Olsson is suffering from an “acute condition related to the brain” and has been hospitalised, according to his club FC Midtjylland.
Olsson, capped 47 times by his country, lost consciousness at his home on February 20 and is being treated at Aarhus University Hospital.

A club statement read: “Against a background of increasing rumours and conjecture around the reasons for Kristoffer Olsson’s absence over the recent period, we feel compelled to go public with this announcement.
“The 28-year-old Sweden player lost consciousness at his home on February 20 and was transferred to Aarhus University Hospital, where he is on a ventilator.
“Kristoffer Olsson is affected by an apparent acute condition related to the brain, which is not due to self-harm of any kind or due to external factors.
“A team of Denmark’s leading medical experts is currently working to make a diagnosis and initiate the right treatment.”

Olsson signed for Arsenal as a 16-year-old in 2011 and made one senior appearance – against West Brom in the EFL Cup, scoring in a penalty shoot-out victory.
He subsequently joined FC Midtjylland in 2015 before spells with AIK, Krasnodar and Anderlecht. He rejoined FC Midtjylland in 2023.
