Trent Alexander-Arnold has said Liverpool’s players are expecting Manchester City and Arsenal to win all of their remaining matches in the Premier League title race.
Wideman Alexander-Arnold scored a spectacular free-kick to send the Reds on their way to a first win in three league games at Fulham on Sunday, although the Cottagers equalised through Timothy Castagne before second-half goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota moved the visitors level on points with leaders Arsenal, who have an eight-goal superiority.
“At this point of the season, in our minds, they won’t drop points,” Alexander-Arnold told Sky Sports, voicing his regret over Liverpool’s surprise home defeat to Crystal Palace a week earlier which has moved the destiny of top spot at the end of the campaign further out of their hands.
“We need to be in a position similar to last week. We kicked ourselves. If anyone drops points around us, we need to be in the best position we can aim for. Five out of five wins is the aim for us.
“At this point of the season, we’ve got nothing to lose. We need to chase the goal difference… it is a tough position for us.”

Arsenal also have five games to play but City have a game in hand, a one-goal better difference than Liverpool and are a point behind the top two.
The Gunners’ fixtures include trips to fifth-placed Tottenham and Manchester United in seventh, while City also visit Spurs in their final away game.

Everton v Liverpool ‘exciting’
Liverpool are next in action in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday at Everton, whose 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest earlier on Sunday was their second consecutive home win.
“It is exciting,” said Alexander-Arnold. “When it comes to derbies, football kind of goes out of the window.
“It is who wants to win it more. They’ve got a good result today, we’ve got a good result. It will be two teams in decent form.”
Established as a wideman, the England international said the more central position he has adopted is “tighter and more compact”.
“The manager has told me to get into that position to try to get on the ball and find those passes over the top,” he added.
“There has to be discipline in there. The rest of the team have to go and do that, move around. Within that, there’s freedom and space to go in there.”
