Inter Miami CF has made a significant addition to its squad with the signing of promising Argentine defender, Tomás Avilés, as part of the MLS’ U-22 initiative. The 19-year-old centre-back joins the club from Racing Club in Argentina, and his contract will extend through the 2026 Major League Soccer (MLS) season with the option for renewal in 2027 and 2028. Pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa, Avilés will soon don the Inter Miami jersey.

Chris Henderson, Chief Football Officer, and Sporting Director of Inter Miami CF expressed delight in welcoming Tomás Avilés to the team, emphasizing the young talent’s bright future in the sport. The club sees him as a valuable addition to bolster the backline and further enhance the team’s defensive capabilities.

In response to his new signing, Tomás Avilés expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to represent Inter Miami CF. The young defender is determined to give his all for the club and contribute to achieving their collective objectives.

Avilés made his professional debut with Racing Club in February 2022 and has since made 20 appearances for the team, including four in the prestigious Copa Libertadores, the esteemed South American continental tournament.

Hailing from Río Gallegos, Argentina, Avilés boasts international experience, having represented both Chile and Argentina at youth international levels. His talent caught the eye of national selectors, earning him a place in the Argentine U-20 team, where he started in two matches during the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Additionally, he showcased his skills for Chile’s U-20s, playing in three matches during the 2023 CONMEBOL U-20 South American Championship.

Tomás Avilés’ signing marks a significant step for both the player and Inter Miami CF. His youth, talent, and international experience make him a promising addition to the club’s roster, and fans eagerly await his contributions to the team’s success in the MLS.

As the 2026 Major League Soccer season approaches, Inter Miami CF anticipates a successful campaign with Tomás Avilés bolstering their defensive ranks. With renewed hope and determination, the club strives to make a strong impact on the league, and Avilés’ presence on the field promises to be a vital asset in achieving their goals.

Inter Miami CF’s fans and coaching staff are excited to witness Tomás Avilés in action, eager to see his growth and development as he adapts to the MLS and showcases his potential on the grand stage. As the young defender embarks on this new chapter of his career, he carries the aspirations of a dedicated club and its devoted supporters.
