Jamshedpur FC Secures Serbian International Alen Stevanovic on Two-Year Deal

-

Jamshedpur FC, the Indian Super League side, made a significant announcement on Monday regarding the signing of Serbian international Alen Stevanovic. The seasoned playmaker has inked a two-year contract with the club, set to take effect in the forthcoming 2023-24 season.

Stevanovic, at the age of 32, boasts an illustrious career that commenced with the Inter Milan youth team in Italy. It was there that he caught the eye of the current AS Roma head coach, Jose Mourinho, who handed him his senior team debut.

Notably, Stevanovic was a pivotal part of Inter’s squad that achieved a historic treble during the 2009-10 season under Mourinho’s guidance. The team clinched the Serie A Scudetto, Coppa Italia, and UEFA Champions League titles, solidifying their dominance in Italian football.

Building on his success in Italy, the Swiss-born Serbian midfielder went on to showcase his talents at esteemed clubs such as Torino FC, Palermo, SSC Bari, and Spezia.

Expressing his enthusiasm upon joining the Men of Steel, Stevanovic stated, “It’s an honor for me to become a part of Jamshedpur FC. I have been hearing a lot about the club and its devoted fans, and I am thrilled to finally arrive in the city and take the field.”

He added, “Considering the club’s previous ISL Shield triumph and with the support of the fans, the right attitude, and the right approach, I firmly believe we can reclaim our position at the top.”

Alen Stevanovic, known for his consistent winning mentality, earned the Serie B title with Palermo and attained victory in the Serbian Super Liga (2016-17) and Serbian Cup (2015-16, 2016-17) during his time at Partizan Belgrade. Additionally, he has proudly represented the Serbian national team on numerous occasions in World Cup Qualifiers.

Most recently, Stevanovic captained FK IMT to the Serbian First League championship in the 2022-23 season, further cementing his reputation as a triumphant leader.

Renowned for his exceptional ball control and visionary passes, Stevanovic possesses the necessary attributes to bolster Jamshedpur FC’s goal-scoring prowess.

Head coach Scott Cooper expressed his delight at securing Stevanovic’s signature, stating, “Alen is an extraordinary acquisition for Jamshedpur FC. Numerous clubs in Europe and Asia were vying for his services, making this signing a monumental achievement for us, facilitated by our close relationship with Serbia, including our assistant coach and myself.”

Cooper continued, “Alen will bring an immense amount of quality and experience to our team. Despite his remarkable background, he remains a remarkably humble individual and a consummate professional.”

“We are thrilled that Alen has chosen Jamshedpur as his first Asian club, and our loyal supporters will undoubtedly relish his exceptional skills and unwavering determination to succeed.”

With the addition of Alen Stevanovic, Jamshedpur FC aims to forge a formidable team that can make a strong resurgence and vie for top honors in the upcoming season. The signing demonstrates the club’s commitment to building a competitive squad capable of achieving remarkable success in the Indian Super League.
