FORT LAUDERDALE (United States): Jordi Alba, the former Spain international defender, is set to sign for Inter Miami and reunite with his former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets, according to team owner Jorge Mas. Mas confirmed the news during a press briefing following the team’s training session on Tuesday.

Mas stated, “Jordi Alba will sign today,” expressing his excitement about the imminent addition to the squad. Alba, 34 years old, recently terminated his contract with Barcelona in May, making him a free agent.

Having made 93 appearances for the Spanish national team, Alba brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Inter Miami. During his time at Barcelona, he won six Spanish league titles and was a key member of the team that clinched the prestigious UEFA Champions League trophy in 2015. Additionally, Alba played a crucial role in Spain’s triumph at the 2012 European Championship.

The arrival of Alba further solidifies the reunion of the formidable Barcelona trio at Inter Miami. Messi and Busquets, having completed their first training session with the team on Tuesday, are now gearing up for their potential debuts in the upcoming match against Mexico’s Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup on Friday.

Inter Miami, currently ranked last in Major League Soccer, aims to strengthen its squad with the addition of Alba and potentially more players in the future. The team’s owner, Mas, expressed their intention to further bolster the roster, signaling their commitment to improving their standing in the league.

The signing of Alba marks an exciting development for Inter Miami, as they continue to build a competitive team under the leadership of their high-profile former Barcelona players. The reunion of Messi, Busquets, and Alba on the pitch brings a sense of familiarity and understanding that could prove to be a significant advantage for Inter Miami in their upcoming matches.

Fans eagerly await the debut of the star-studded trio as they showcase their skills and aim to make a significant impact on Inter Miami’s performance in Major League Soccer. With Alba’s signing, the team’s prospects have received a significant boost, and supporters can look forward to witnessing their favorite players’ continued success at the club level.
