James Maddison has returned to first-team training with Tottenham and could be involved when they host Manchester City in the FA Cup on Friday.
Maddison enjoyed a superb start to life in north London after arriving from Leicester City in a £40million deal last June, recording eight goal involvements (three goals, five assists) in his first 10 Premier League appearances for the club.
However, the England international suffered an ankle injury during Spurs’ chaotic 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in early November – their first league loss under Ange Postecoglou.

Ahead of Tottenham’s entertaining 2-2 draw with Manchester United on January 14, Postecoglou outlined his hope that Maddison could return to the fold for their fourth-round cup tie against holders City.
On Wednesday, Tottenham’s social media channels confirmed the creative midfielder’s return by posting images of him in training, writing “things you love to see” alongside a picture of Maddison out on the grass.

Maddison’s injury came as a hammer blow to Spurs, with the Chelsea defeat marking the start of a five-match winless run in the Premier League.
Injuries to defenders Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have also not helped Tottenham’s cause, but they have bounced back by winning five of their last seven games across all competitions (one draw, one defeat).
After Friday’s game, Tottenham round off the month by hosting Brentford in the Premier League next Wednesday before facing Everton at Goodison Park three days later.
