Former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has dubbed the duo of Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden as “the master and the master.”
The Belgium international opened the scoring Manchester City’s 4-0 win over Brighton on Thursday night before his team-mate from Stockport bagged a brace to put the champions in the driving seat.

It was a brilliant performance all over the pitch for Pep Guardiola’s men and the goalscorers in particular earned praise from the Sky Sports pundit.
He said: “It’s the master and the master.
“With Phil Foden and what he is doing right now, he looks so good. He has always got the picture in his mind.
“To be a great team, you have to have good senior players…” 🫡

“Kevin De Bruyne for me, we have seen some greats, such as Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Yaya Toure. But he is the top one.
“I think he does things that are out of this world. The passes that he has seen, there are not many that can do that.
“I am in awe of him every time I watch him.
“You need good role models. It is great for Phil Foden to see Kevin De Bruyne every day.
“Just trying to learn and take something from him.
“There is no doubt that Phil Foden is playing so well because he has taken great lessons from Kevin De Bruyne.”
Not only was it a solid outing in attack, but City were defensively sound thanks to the press-resistant Ederson in goal and lightning-fast Kyle Walker at right-back.
City kept their first clean sheet in the league since the 0-0 draw with Arsenal in March and Redknapp had praise for the visitors’ other heroes.

He added: “That’s why Manchester City are so hard to press.
“Not only do they outnumber you but they also have the goalkeeper who can hit passes like that [to Kyle Walker in the build-up to the fourth goal].
“Ederson makes you press-resistant. When you have got that asset, when you are under pressure, that is like Kevin De Bruyne.”
