Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has been ruled out for three weeks after sustaining a knee injury during Sunday’s FA Cup win at Arsenal.
The England international played the full 90 minutes at the Emirates Stadium as the Merseysiders advanced to a fourth-round meeting with either Norwich or Bristol Rovers.

But it came at a cost with Alexander-Arnold now facing a spell on the sidelines.
Pep Lijnders, Jurgen Klopp’s assistant, explained: “First of all, some not-that-good news, Trent hyperextended his knee during the last game.
“So he has a little tear in the lateral ligament of his knee and he will need time to recover. He had a scan and he will be out probably three weeks.
“He will get some rest and then hopefully he can come back to where he was. Because this guy was decisive in all the games and was the one who created constantly for us from deep and gave the team a high level of flexibility. We will really miss him.”
Alexander-Arnold will miss tomorrow’s EFL Cup semi-final, first leg clash with Fulham at Anfield after which they have an 11-day break due to the Premier League’s winter break. They return to action at Bournemouth on January 21.

Lijnders added: “It’s a big blow. We’ll have to find new dynamics without him because he made our team flexible.
“Hopefully three weeks with the winter break – which is a few days – in between.”
In better news for the Reds, Virgil van Dijk, who missed the weekend game through illness will return against Marco Silva’s men.
“Virgil is back,” said Lijnders.
“He did some runs yesterday on the pitch, looked good again. So he will be back in the squad, he recovered well. So it really helped him not to travel to London.”
Dominik Szoboszlai remains unavailable.
