Ollie Watkins lauded a “massive three points” after his winner helped Aston Villa to a 2-1 away victory at Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.
Villa fell behind in the first half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium through a deflected Giovani Lo Celso strike, but the visitors responded and Pau Torres levelled in the late stages of the first half.

Watkins would net the winner just after the hour mark, latching onto Tielemans’ throughball before picking out the bottom corner to hand Villa a brilliant three points on the road and move them into the top four, two points off leaders Arsenal.
The away win was only Villa’s third since early April, and Watkins was delighted to have scored the goal that got his team over the line.
“They [Spurs] are where they are in the league because of how they’re playing so a massive three points,” Watkins told Sky Sports.
“Our away form has not been as good as we can be. I’ve got quite a good record here at Spurs so [it is] nice to get another goal.

“It’s unbelievable, a great feeling and we’re playing great football. But we’re not getting carried away. We’re not even at Christmas yet and we have some tough matches coming up so we have to keep going.”
Watkins thought he had scored in the first half when he found the back of the net with a header just moments after Lo Celso had put Spurs in front.
However, the goal was ruled out by VAR for offside, with Watkins joking that the size of his feet came back to haunt him.
“If I was a size seven or eight it would’ve been a goal,” Watkins said. “It either goes your way or not and Pau’s one [the first goal] was tight. We got that and that was a massive boost to go in 1-1 at half-time.”
