Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal etched his name into La Liga history by becoming the youngest goalscorer ever as the Catalan side mounted a comeback to secure a point against Granada.
Barca quickly fell behind, with Bryan Zaragoza finding the net after only 17 seconds, and he added a second just before the half-hour mark to put Granada firmly in control.
However, Yamal’s goal just before half-time, a tap-in from Joao Felix’s pass, altered the course of the match, and ensure that the winger made history at just At just 16 years and 87 days old.
It wasn’t until the 85th minute that Sergi Roberto finally broke Granada’s resistance, slotting in a goal from Alejandro Balde’s assist.
Although Felix believed he had scored a dramatic late winner, his goal was disallowed for a marginal offside against Ferran Torres.
Barcelona’s draw left them in third place, trailing leaders Real Madrid by three points and second-placed Girona by one as they headed into the international break.
This is just the latest milestone in a breakthrough year for Yamal:
At the age of 15 years and 290 days, he became Barcelona’s youngest ever player when he made a substitute appearance against Real Betis in April.
In September, he became the youngest player – and goalscorer – for the Spanish national team in a 7-1 Euro 2024 qualifying win against Georgia.
Against Granada, he added the accolade of being La Liga’s youngest scorer to his list of achievements in 2023.
Yamal has featured in all nine of Barcelona’s league games this season, starting five of them, including the last two.
He also holds the distinction of being the youngest player ever called up to the Spain senior squad and started against Cyprus following his goal against Georgia. He is once again in the squad for the October internationals against Scotland and Norway.
