Seasoned FPL veterans will know that you can’t own the Mo Salahs and Kevin De Bruynes of this world without including a few budget gems in your squad. To that end, we’ve selected some budget midfielders that you may want to consider ahead of Gameweek 1.
Julio Enciso (£5.5m) – Brighton
Enciso has been given a generous price of £5.5m and that could prove to be an absolute steal if he continues to develop in this exciting Brighton side. The 19-year-old Paraguayan was used more and more frequently towards the end of the last season and logged four goals and three assists in just 794 minutes of Premier League action. Enciso could well find himself in the starting line-up more regularly this time around, and his FPL managers will be hoping to reap the rewards.
Alexis Mac Allister (£6.0m) – Liverpool
It is Enciso’s former Brighton teammate Mac Allister that comes under the spotlight next, with the 2022 World Cup winners having made the move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool this summer. The Argentine was a popular FPL asset in 2022-23 and hit double figured for goals, although that was aided somewhat by being the Seagulls’ designated penalty taker. While Mohamed Salah is likely to remain Liverpool’s chief spot-kick taker, Mac Allister may get his chance from the spot this season and could prove himself to be excellent FPL value once again.
Morgan Gibbs-White (£6.0m) – Nottingham Forest
Gibbs-White will set FPL managers back £0.5m more than he did last season, but many will have been expecting a more substantial increase based on the numbers he put up in the previous campaign. The Nottingham Forst man accounted for five goals and 12 assists in FPL, and his contributions were vital to keeping Steve Cooper’s side in the Premier League. The Englishman was often Forest’s difference maker in key moments, and he represents one of the more attacking options available in the budget midfielders department.
