FPL 2023-24 – Best goalkeepers £5.0m or more

-

As the start of the 2023-24 Fantasy Premier League season draws ever closer, we take a look at the wide range of players available for FPL managers to purchase, picking out some excellent value options in all positions.

In this article, we focus on the best goalkeepers available at £5.0m or more.

Alisson (£5.5m) – Liverpool
The ideal ‘set and forget’ goalkeeper, Liverpool’s Alisson has been a top FPL performer over the past couple of seasons. Although the Brazilian international didn’t quite match his 2021-22 fantasy score of 170 points this campaign just gone, his total of 162 FPL points was bettered only by David Raya among goalkeepers. Consistency is Alisson’s strong suit and he’ll be determined to claim the Golden Glove for Liverpool in 2023-24 after gaining 14 clean sheets last season. For those FPL managers not looking to rotate goalkeepers over the course of the campaign and are willing to spend a sizeable amount of their budget on a premium stopper, Alisson appears the ideal candidate.

Nick Pope (£5.5m) – Newcastle
A hugely popular FPL asset and for good reason! After a successful spell at Burnley which saw him rack up 444 fantasy points across his final three seasons at the Clarets, Nick Pope made the move to Newcastle last summer. He went on to play a starring role in a wonderful season which saw the Magpies finish inside the top four, securing Champions League football in 2023-24. Like Alisson, Pope kept 14 clean sheets and ended the campaign with 157 fantasy points, the second highest FPL score of his career. Whilst Champions League football could be a risk to Newcastle’s Premier League form, it would be no surprise if Pope continues to make substantial FPL gains, making him a hugely viable option once again.

Andre Onana (£5.0m) – Man Utd
One of the biggest transfer deals so far this summer has seen Cameroon international Andre Onana join Man Utd as their new first-choice goalkeeper, replacing the long-serving David De Gea and reunited him with his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag. With 104 clean sheets in 255 appearances across club football, Onana is coming off the back of a successful season at Inter Mian which saw him lift the Coppa Italia and keep five clean sheets over the course of seven Champions League knockout stage fixtures as the Italians finished runners-up to Man City. At an opening price of £5.0m, Onana could wind up being the goalkeeping bargain of the season.
