FPL 2023-24 – Best Premium Midfielders

-

As the start of the 2023-24 Fantasy Premier League season draws ever closer, we take a look at the wide range of players available for FPL managers to purchase, picking out some excellent value options in all positions.

In this article, we focus on the best premium midfielders who are of a high-cost, but offer a high-reward

Mo Salah (£12.5m) – Liverpool
One of the most reliable points scorers in the history of FPL, Salah will no doubt once again be among the most owned players this season among the FPL community. Since the Egyptian joined the Reds, he is yet to go a season having scored less than 230 points, accumulating 239 this past campaign, the most among midfielders. A total 19 goals and 13 assists was actually below his abnormally high standards with Salah having racked up 23 goals, 14 assists and 265 points in 2021-22. He remains a crucial piece of the Liverpool attacking puzzle and more than justifies a premium price-tag.

Kevin De Bruyne (£10.5m) – Man City
Whilst Pep Guardiola’s penchant for rotation can prove a frustration for FPL managers, De Bruyne rarely fails to get among the attacking returns when named on the Man City teamsheet. Having secured the coveted Champions League last season, thus completing a unique treble, Guardiola’s side will no doubt be desperate to retain the Premier League with their strongest XI expected to be fielded at every opportunity. That should mean plenty of minutes for De Bruyne, who accrued 18 assists last season, along with seven goals and 183 fantasy points.

Bukayo Saka (£8.5m) – Arsenal
FPL bosses are spoiled for choice when it comes to Arsenal midfield assets. Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli were both among the top five highest scoring fantasy midfielders, as was Bukayo Saka and it is the latter who catches our eye the most from this terrific trio. Saka has recorded double figures in terms of league goals for two seasons running and in 2022-23, picked up a double figure number of Premier League assists for the first time. The England international is also Arsenal first-choice penalty taker as it stands, which gives him a point of difference over the other two.
