Looking forward to Gameweek 4, we’ve cast our eyes on a group of FPL assets in good form coming into the final round of 2023-24 Premier League fixtures before the first international break of the season and why FPL managers should take note.
Aston Villa are finding the net with regularity at present, racking up seven goals across their last two league games, alongside their five goals in their Europa Conference League play-off first-leg match against Hibernian. Ollie Watkins (£8.0m) netted a hat-trick in that one and has racked up three consecutive assists in as many league fixtures. Lucas Digne (£4.5m) also recorded a hat-trick in Edinburgh, a hat-trick of assists making it five assists in all competitions so far this season. Matty Cash (£4.6m) is coming off the back of two goals away at Burnley this past weekend and all three in-form players will be confident of further attacking returns in Gameweek 4.
As it stands, Man City are the only club who still boast a 100% record in the Premier League this season. In terms of players and their individual form, it’s hard to look beyond Phil Foden (£7.6m) at present. Despite starting on the bench in Gameweek 3 due to illness, Foden came on and immediately influenced the match after Man City had conceded a late equaliser against Sheffield Utd. Before the Blades could take a breath, Foden had set up Rodrigo (£5.7m) for City’s winning goal. Known as a defensive midfielder, the Spaniard has now accrued two goals and an assist over the course of three gameweeks and in Gameweek 4, faces a Fulham side who have shipped five goals across their last two league matches.
It hasn’t taken long for James Ward-Prowse (£6.0m) to make a positive impact on new club West Ham. The long-serving Southampton midfielder has returned to the Premier League following the Saints’ relegation by joining David Moyes’ side and despite the change of scenery, remains a high-value FPL asset on current form. Ward-Prowse made his debut in Gameweek 2, accumulating two assists in West Ham’s 3-1 win over Chelsea and backed that up with a goal the weekend after as the Hammers overcame Brighton by three goals to one. A trip to Luton awaits in Gameweek 4 for both him and Jarrod Bowen (£7.0m), who has now scored in each of West Ham’s two away fixtures so far this campaign.
