FPL 2023-24 – Gameweek 13 Goalkeepers

-

As we come out of the international break, we look at the lay of the land when it comes to FPL goalkeepers ahead of Gameweek 13.

After sitting out Gameweeks 10 and 11 through injury, Bournemouth’s Neto (£4.5m) returned between the sticks for the Cherries in Gameweek 12 and promptly recorded the highest score of all goalkeepers over the course of the gameweek. The Brazilian made five saves in the 2-0 win over Newcastle, earning two bonus points for his efforts, and only two goalkeepers have accumulated more bonus points over the course of the season. Bournemouth take on promoted side Sheffield Utd in Gameweek 13 – a fixture with high clean sheet potential for Neto.

Gameweek 12 brought about a second consecutive shutout for Andre Onana (£4.8m), who recorded eight points in Man Utd’s narrow victory over Luton. Erik ten Hag’s men take on Everton next, which offers the chance of a third straight clean sheet, but Onana owners should play close attention to Man Utd’s pre-match press conference as the Cameroonian stopper has sustained an injury while on international duty and his Gameweek 12 participation is in doubt.

The only other clean sheet in Gameweek 12 came the way of Alisson Becker (£5.6m), as Liverpool eased to a 3-0 win over Brentford. The Reds have now conceded just one goal in their last four Premier League encounters, and Alisson has amassed more FPL points (56) than any other goalkeeper. Points may prove difficult to come by in Gameweek 13 though, as Liverpool take on table-toppers and reigning champions Man City in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off.

One goalkeeper who is increasingly becoming popular at the moment is Sam Johnstone (£4.6m), with the Crystal Palace number one second only to the aforementioned Alisson in terms of FPL points over the course of the season. The Eagles’ next three fixtures in the Premier League are against Luton, West Ham and Bournemouth, and Johnstone owners will be expecting a decent return from that stretch.
