As we head into the international break, it’s time to take a look at the top FPL point-scorers in Gameweek 4.
Heung-Min Son (£9.1m) – 20 Points
Last season saw Son record his lowest FPL total since his debut season for Spurs in 2015-16, and that has led to his diminishing popularity in fantasy circles. However, his Gameweek 4 performance against Burnley was a reminder that class is permanent with the South Korean star helping himself to a hat-trick against the Clarets. Ange Postecoglou fielded Son as a central striker in that fixture and, in light of his superb performance, could well opt to do the same again when Tottenham take on Sheffield Utd after the international break.
Erling Haaland (£14.1m) – 20 Points
If there’s one player who you aren’t surprised to see at the summit of the gameweek’s top point-scorers lost, it’s Erling Haaland. The Norwegian notched the seventh hat-trick of his Man City career – and added an assist for good measure – during his side’s 5-1 demolition of Fulham on Saturday. He is now the top-scoring FPL asset across all positions with 39 points, and appears in almost 92% of fantasy teams!
Evan Ferguson (£6.0m) – 17 Points
There has been growing hype around Brighton’s Evan Ferguson in the last year or so but his display against Newcastle last weekend was a real breakthrough moment for the youngster. His Gameweek 4 hat-trick naturally produced maximum bonus, and his 17-point total is certainly not to be sniffed at for a player priced modestly at £6.0m. Still very much a differential option, it won’t be long before Ferguson forms part of the FPL template if he continues in the same vein.
Julian Alvarez (£6.7m) – 14 points
With Haaland’s ownership so high, arguably the only real way you can benefit from Man City is to own more than one of their attacking assets, and Alvarez is certainly the leading contender right now. Combining seamlessly with his Norwegian counterpart, Alvarez brought home 14 points in Gameweek 4 thanks to a goal and two assists in the Fulham fixture. The Argentine now sits second in the ranks of point-scoring forwards.
