FPL 2023-24 – Gameweek 4 Pre-Deadline Availability Update

With all the team news in ahead of the Gameweek 4 deadline, we assess the current injury situation of some key FPL assets.

Sven Borman (Newcastle) – 50/50
Suffered a bruised ankle against Liverpool in Gameweek 3 and faces a late fitness test for this weekend’s fixture with Brighton.

Manuel Akanji (Man City) – LIKELY TO BEAVAILABLE
Akanji is in better shape now after largely recovering from a recent illness. Is likely to be on the squad at least.

Raphael Varane (Man Utd) – OUT
Had to be withdrawn at half-time against Nottingham Forest last week and will be out for a few weeks.

Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) – OUT
Last week’s red card sees the Dutch defender miss out in Gameweek 4, and his ban could yet be extended after being charged by the FA over his reaction to the dismissal.

Ansu Fati (Brighton) – OUT
The deadline day loan signing is sure to be a popular pick before long but the Gameweek 4 clash with Newcastle will come too soon for the youngster.

Phil Foden (Man City) – AVAILABLE
The Man City midfielder is now completely free of illness, paving the way for a potential start in Man City’s clash with Fulham in Gameweek 4..

Mo Salah (Liverpool) – LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE
At the time of writing, Salah is still a Liverpool player despite a determined effort from Al-Ittihad to sign him on deadline day.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton) – 50/50
The Evertonian’s injury is not as bad as first feared and Sean Dyche has stated that his striker is “touch and go” to feature.

Rasmus Hojlund (Man Utd) – AVAILABLE
Man Utd’s summers signing has finally recovered from the injury that has prevented him making his debut, and he is set to feature in Gameweek 4.
