With the international break set to begin, we take a look at the injury situation surrounding some key FPL assets.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.9m) – Liverpool
After initially being called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad, Alexander-Arnold was sent home with a hamstring injury that he initially picked up in Liverpool victory over Aston Villa in Gameweek 4. The full-back has an outside chance of recovering for the Reds’ Gameweek 5 fixture with Wolves.
Status: 50/50
Sven Botman (£4.5m) – Newcastle
The Newcastle centre-back came off with an ankle issue against Liverpool last month, and subsequently missed the Magpies’ following Premier League fixture against Brighton. It was initially feared that the Dutchman faced a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but it has since emerged that the injury isn’t as bad as first feared, and he may even be available for the Gameweek 5 clash with Brentford.
Status: 50/50
Jack Grealish (£7.3m) – Man City
Like Alexander-Arnold, Grealish was initially called up to the England squad but has since withdrawn. This is due to a thigh issue that kept the Man City winger out of his side’s 5-1 victory over Fulham last weekend – an injury which wasn’t reported before the match. However, the prognosis is fairly positive now and it would be a surprise if Grealish didn’t recover in time for Gameweek 5.
Status: LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE
Evan Ferguson (£6.0m) – Brighton
Ferguson was one of the leading lights of Gameweek 4 with the Brighton striker banging in a superb hat-trick against Newcastle. However, it came at a cost with the Irishman hobbling off the field at the end of the match with what appeared to be knee problem. He has since withdrawn from international duty, putting his Gameweek 5 participation in doubt. Be sure to monitor Roberto De Zerbi’s press conference next week for an update on his condition.
