It’s time to take a look at which players scored the most points in Gameweek 9.
Jacob Murphy (£4.8m) – 17 Points
Certainly one of the more surprising top performers this season, £4.8m-priced Murphy – owned by just 0.3% of FPL managers – recorded a mammoth 17-point haul in Newcastle’s 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace thanks to a goal and two assists. That was the 28-year-old’s first Premier League start of the season, and his performance may give Eddie Howe food for thought when it comes to his future team selection.
Mo Salah (£12.8m) – 16 Points
A more familiar name in FPL circles, Salah was at it again in Gameweek 9 when he scored both goals in Liverpool’s Merseyside Derby win over Everton. The Egyptian’s 15-point return represented his fourth double-figure haul of the campaign, and he leads the way overall with 75 points to his name over the course of the season. Having only blanked once this season, Salah is very much in the ‘essential’ bracket right now.
Douglas Luiz (£5.5m) – 15 Points
Like Murphy, Douglas Luiz is not a player who features in many FPL squads, but given his budget-friendly price, as well as the fact he is on penalty duty at Aston Villa, that may start to change. The Midland side’s impressive 4-1 win over West Ham included a brace from the Brazilian midfielder, who has now found the net five times across the first nine gameweeks of the season.
Heung-Min Son (£9.5m) – 14 Points
Among midfielders, only Salah has accumulated more FPL points at this stage than Son, who both scored and assisted in Tottenham’s 2-0 victory over Luton on Monday. The South Korean is clearly relishing playing in the central striker role for the Premier League leaders, as he has now has seven goals to his name in the division – a total bettered only by Erling Haaland.
