Now that all 20 press conferences have taken place ahead of the first FPL deadline of the year, we look at the availability of a selection of players who FPL bosses may have been eyeing up for their initial squads.
Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal) – OUT
The Brazilian is unavailable for selection in the early part of the season having suffered a knee injury in the summer.
Emi Buendia (Aston Villa) – OUT
The Villa star was a potential option in the mid-priced midfielders bracket, but will unfortunately miss at least six moths of action on account of a knee ligament injury sustained in the last week.
Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) – AVAILABLE
Another mid-priced option, but better news this time as Brentford boss Thomas Frank confirmed Mbeume has overcome a recent knock and would start their opener against Tottenham
Christopher Nkunku (Chelsea) – OUT
One of Chelsea’s new acquisitions featured in many early FPL drafts, but the former Leipzig star sustained a knee injury and won’t make his competitive debut for the Blues until December at the earliest.
Andreas Pereira (Fulham) – 50/50
One of the creative hubs in Fulham’s team, Pereira was a popular budget option for FPL managers last season and outperformed his price-tag, but he is currently carrying a knock that puts his Gameweek 1 participation in doubt.
Kevin De Bruyne (Man City) – 50/50
Although the Belgian did make an appearance in last weekend’s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, Pep Guardiola may play it cautiously as he will not want to risk injuring De Bruyne more seriously. A benching wouldn’t be a huge surprise.
Harry Kane (Tottenham) – OUT
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll be aware that the England international is on the verge of joining Bayern Munich, thus removing one of the premium assets in FPL this season. Barring a last-minute U-turn, Kane should not be featuring in any fantasy teams!
