Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad are reportedly set to make one more groundbreaking offer to Liverpool for star player Mohamed Salah before the closure of the Saudi Arabian transfer window.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have already signed one Liverpool player so far this summer, midfielder Fabinho making the move to the reigning Saudi Pro League champions for a fee of £40m. But their prime target is Salah, whom they are willing to pay a world record transfer fee to acquire.
Egyptian international Salah has long established himself as one of the best players in the world since joining Liverpool back in 2017. The 31-year-old has racked up 188 goals in all competitions for the Reds in 309 appearances so far and has won every club competition available to win, including the Premier League, the FA Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup, which Al Ittihad will be a part of later this year as 2022-23 Saudi Pro League winners.
If any move was to transpire, Salah would likely prove the final piece of what would be a mouth-watering frontline which already includes 2022 men’s Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema and former Celtic star Jota, giving them a realistic chance of lifting this year’s FIFA Club World Cup in their home city of Jeddah.
Al Ittihad have already had a bid of up to £150m rejected by Liverpool, who insist that Salah is not for sale and boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken publicly about his confidence that the attacker is happy on Merseyside. But the expectation is that Al Ittihad will launch a final attempt to sign Salah with a world record transfer fee of up to £215m potentially on the table, making it an uncomfortable couple of days ahead for Liverpool fans.
