In his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Selhurst Park to play Crystal Palace at Saturday lunchtime, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested The Reds may be quiet in the January transfer window.
The German boss more or less dismissed the idea of signing a centre-back in the window, which was apparently the only position left to fill for the club after a busy summer.

When asked, Klopp said: “I don’t think so. It all costs money, it must be the right player. Tell me a club that wants to sell a top, top, top centre-half,”
Liverpool had been heavily linked with a move for Chelsea and England international defender Levi Colwill in the summer, as well as Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio as they look for a left-sided centre-back to challenge Virgil van Dijk in the first-team.
There has been a mini injury crisis at times in the early stages of the campaign with Jarell Quansah being handed his debut in the back four earlier this season.
With everyone fully fit now, though, Quansah is back down to fifth choice in the pecking order with Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez the first-team options for Klopp in the centre of his defence.
It has been an impressive campaign for Liverpool since their turnaround in form around April last season. They are currently very much involved in the Premier League title race sitting just two points behind league leaders Arsenal at the weekend.
A tweak in their style of play has led to this turnaround in form with a lot more intensity in their attacking play, leaving the door slightly more ajar at the back. For example, the clean sheet they picked up in their 2-0 victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in midweek was just their fifth clean sheet of the Premier League season.
