Burnley boss Vincent Kompany was delighted with his young team’s 2-1 win at Luton in a match he felt “deserved its place in the Premier League”.
Burnley claimed their first league win of the season thanks to an opening goal from Lyle Foster on his return from suspension and a wonder strike from Jacob Bruun Larsen either side of an Elijah Adebayo leveller.
Kompany said: “I thought it was a game that deserved its place in the Premier League, with two teams that showed that they are going to give everything this season.
“We have such a young team. Players 22, 23, [Ameen] Al-Dakhil 21, and they are just going to get better. This was a great experience, a game like this for them.
“What got us through the Championship was shown; we had plenty of games like this last year.
“It’s a great win for us and a nice moment as a manager, but I’m ready now to try to bring the first win to Turf Moor for the fans.”
On loan from Hoffenheim, Danish winger Bruun Larsen scored the winner at Kenilworth Road on what was an emotional night for the summer signing as he bent a stunning shot into the net from 20 yards.
He said: “I’m feeling a lot, a lot of joy, a lot of different pictures in my head after the game. It’s been a long journey for me personally.
‘It’s my first song that I’ve ever had from fans, I really enjoyed it. Brilliant support; you could hear them all the time.
“Great day out, I won’t forget it, obviously! The lads, when I scored…I was just pure emotions, and the guys were like go enjoy it, go to the fans. I’m just happy.”
