Millie Bright has been forced to withdraw from England’s squad to face the Netherlands and Scotland in the UEFA Women’s Nations League due to injury.
Chelsea defender Bright stepped up to captain the Lionesses as they reached the final of the 2023 Women’s World Cup – where they were beaten by Spain – after Leah Williamson suffered a serious knee injury.
Bright overcame her own knee injury in order to feature at the tournament in Australia and New Zealand, but Chelsea boss Emma Hayes revealed she is still feeling the effects of that issue earlier this week.
On Friday, England announced that Bright would remain at Chelsea to receive treatment during the December international window, with Manchester United’s Millie Turner being called up as her replacement.

Sarina Wiegman’s team approach their final set of Nations League group-stage games third in their four-team group, behind the Netherlands and Belgium.
The Netherlands are currently three points clear of the Lionesses, who need to win the group to reach the Nations League Finals and qualify for the Paris Olympic Games next year, as the home nation tasked with securing qualification for Team GB.
England host the Dutch at Wembley Stadium on Friday December 1, before travelling to Hampden Park to face bottom side Scotland four days later.
