Fabio Grosso hopes lessons will be learned after the Lyon team bus was pelted with missiles in Marseille on Sunday.
Grosso received 12 stitches in a facial wound following the incident that saw rocks and bottles thrown at the bus as it made its way through the south coast city to the Stade Velodrome for the Ligue 1 clash.
The game itself was postponed and the Lyon boss, whose assistant Raffaele Longo was also injured, is desperate there is no repeat.
He wrote on Instagram: “I hope with all my heart that it can be a lesson for our future.
“What happened on Sunday evening could have been a tragedy. It certainly was for the sport and for all those who love it.”
