FPL 2023-24 – Double Gameweek 7 Fixture Analysis

-

Gameweek 6 began quietly, with a goalless draw between Crystal Palace and Fulham, a comfortable 2-0 win for Man City over Nottingham Forest, despite them being reduced to ten men early in the second half and a first point of the season for Luton at home to Wolves, who were also hit with a red card.

As the weekend progressed, the entertainment increased as 21 goals were scored across five fixtures on Sunday. Eight of those came at Bramall Lane as Sheffield Utd were thrashed 0-8 by Newcastle. In an enthralling North London Derby, Spurs came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Arsenal, whilst Chelsea were beaten at home by Aston Villa. Both Brighton and Liverpool were 3-1 home winners against Bournemouth and West Ham respectively.

Now we’re in a position to look ahead at the Double Gameweek 7 deadline of 11:00 on Saturday, here are the latest Premier League fixtures and a look at which appear most enticing from an FPL standpoint in a round set to last for four days.

Key Double Gameweek 7 Fixture Ramifications

Newcastle players are currently being transferred in by the bulk-load and it’s easy to see why as they follow up their battering of Sheffield Utd with another friendly fixture on paper against another newly promoted side. They welcome Burnley to St. James’ Park, who have recorded just one point so far over the course of the season. The likes of defenders Kieran Trippier (£6.6m), Sven Botman (£4.7m) and midfielder Anthony Gordon (£5.6m) all appeal to fantasy bosses on this basis.

However, Burnley assets aren’t to be ignored with them being one of just two clubs to enjoy two fixtures in Double Gameweek 7. They follow up their trip to Newcastle with another away match three days later, this time at Luton. With forward Lyle Foster suspended, Zeki Amdouni (£5.4m) may well be the man tasked to lead the frontline for Vincent Kompany’s Clarets. For Luton, striker Carlton Morris (£5.5m) already boasts plenty of new owners, as does Issa Kabore (£4.0m).

Liverpool’s five-match winning streak in the Premier League will come under significant threat in Gameweek 5 as they take on Spurs, who are yet to be beaten in the league under Ange Postecoglou. Two in-form, premium midfielders who have proven their worth from an FPL standpoint time and time again across their careers will do battle as Heung-min Son (£9.2m) comes up against Mohamed Salah (£12.5m), the two having already racked up 87 fantasy points between them in 2023-24. Elsewhere, Man Utd host Crystal Palace, whilst Man City and the Premier League’s current top-scorer Erling Haaland (£14.1m), are away to Wolves. West London plays host to a fierce local derby on Monday night as Fulham go up against Chelsea at Craven Cottage.
