With the Gameweek 9 deadline starting to creep up on us, we cast a glance over some of the form players giving FPL bosses plenty to mull over during the next couple of days.
The formidable form of Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) continues to excite FPL managers and for good reason. The Egyptian has bagged nine attacking returns (five goals and four assists) across the opening eight gameweeks of the campaign. All three of Liverpool’s home Premier League fixtures has seen Salah find the net and with Everton the visitors to Anfield in Gameweek 9, this bodes well for his ownership.
Only Ollie Watkins (£8.2m) can currently match Salah’s overall FPL score of 59 points and that is down to his huge upturn in form in recent weeks. The Aston Villa forward boasts four goals and three assists across his last three league appearances, including a hat-trick against Brighton. Villa host West Ham in Gameweek 9.
The Hammers boast a prolific goalscorer on their travels in Jarrod Bowen (£7.3m), the winger having found the net in all five of West Ham’s away league fixtures so far this season. Aston Villa have kept just two clean sheets in eight top flight games, which bodes well for Bowen’s prospects of scoring on the road once again.
A number of Newcastle players are extremely hot from an FPL perspective, Alexander Isak (£7.5m) has four goals to his name since Gameweek 6, but a groin injury renders him doubtful for the Magpies’ home clash with Crystal Palace. Kieran Trippier (£6.9m) will certainly play though, as he looks to add to his five assists and two clean sheets across Newcastle’s most recent three Premier League matches.
However, it would be remiss not to mention that Crystal Palace have not conceded a goal in the league since Gameweek 5, recording three consecutive clean sheets. Centre-back Joachim Andersen (£4.9m) has been outstanding for the Eagles, as has goalkeeper Sam Johnstone (£4.5m).
