FPL 2023-24 – Gameweek 9 Bandwagons

-

As we edge towards the resumption of this FPL campaign with Gameweek 9, we’re looking at those main bandwagon picks drawing the most attention from Fantasy Premier League bosses at present.

As it stands, two players are attracting the most attention from a bandwagon perspective as the only two stars to have already been bought by over a quarter of a million FPL managers leading up to Gameweek 9. Unsurprisingly they are the two highest scoring fantasy assets having each accumulated 59 points so far this season. Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) scoring twice and gaining 15 points against Brighton in Gameweek 8 has sparked a scrum for his services, while Ollie Watkins (£8.2m) backed up his 23-point-haul three weeks back with an assist last time out away at Wolves. Liverpool face Everton in the Merseyside Derby at Anfield in Gameweek 9 and Aston Villa are also at home, taking on West Ham.

Finally, fantasy managers are latching onto the brilliant form of Pedro Neto (£5.7m) and bringing him into their teams in bulk. Neto boasts over 150,000 new owners following a run of at least one attacking return in each of Wolves’ last six Premier League fixtures, a streak that began back in Gameweek 3. Over the course of this period, the Portuguese midfielder has accrued 40 FPL points, an impressive total that underlines his consistency in 2023-24 so far.

Another Aston Villa bandwagon fast-emerging is that of Polish full-back Matty Cash (£5.1m) who is set to pass 200,000 new owners by the Gameweek 9 deadline. Cash’s license to roam forward down the right-hand-side by Unai Emery is an exciting FPL prospect, especially when Cash is deployed as a right-winger, which has been a tactic of Emery’s across the season. He is currently among the top five highest-scoring defenders from a fantasy perspective so far this campaign, further enhancing his appeal leading into Gameweek 9.
