FPL 2023-24 – Gameweek 12 Fixture Analysis

-

Gameweek 11 started with a priceless late victory for Man Utd away at Fulham, easing the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag following consecutive 0-3 home defeats in league and cup. However, the Red Devils have since lost again, going down 4-3 to FC Copenhagen in the Champions League. Brentford got the better of West Ham by three goals to two in a thrilling London Derby. While one newly promoted club in Burnley were beaten by Crystal Palace, another in Sheffield Utd were victorious at home to Wolves. Man City thrashed Bournemouth 6-1 at Etihad Stadium, but Arsenal were beaten 1-0 away to Newcastle.

Sunday saw Nottingham Forest pull off a surprise result, overcoming in-form Aston Villa 2-0. However, that result would have been nothing compared to the shock had Luton gotten the better of Liverpool. The Reds salvaged a point though with a stoppage time equaliser. The final match of Gameweek 11 was an absolute thriller, which Chelsea eventually ended up on the right side of, winning 1-4 after opponents Spurs were reduced to nine men following two sending offs.

We’re now whittling down the hours until the Gameweek 12 deadline of 11:00 on Saturday. That means it’s time to assess the latest round of Premier League fixtures and see which of those are worth targeting for FPL managers.

Key Gameweek 12 Fixture Ramifications

When taking into account that Burnley have lost each of their last four Premier League fixtures, scoring just twice in the process but conceding 11 times, it appears a logical move to target their away clash with Arsenal in Gameweek 12, specifically FPL assets from the Gunners. Should Bukayo Saka (£8.6m) be fit to start, then the England international could be afforded more joy on the back of his goal and assist against Sevilla in Europe on Wednesday. Defender Ben White (£5.7m), the third-highest scoring defender from an FPL perspective is also expected to attract significant attention.

Man Utd will be looking to take their midweek frustration out on Luton at Old Trafford in another must-win game for Erik ten Hag and his players. Having been controversially sent off in Denmark, Marcus Rashford (£8.6m) must be itching to get back out on the pitch and prove a point here, while Bruno Fernandes (£8.3m) is coming off the back of having scored in consecutive games for the Red Devils. Despite his four goals already scored in this season’s Champions League, forward Rasmus Hojlund (£7.1m) is still searching for his first Premier League goal.

Liverpool host Brentford on Sunday, which means Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) automatically comes onto the radar having found the net in each of the Reds’ home Premier League games so far this season. Meanwhile, Ollie Watkins (£8.4m) will no doubt be desperate to get back on the scoresheet for Aston Villa at home to Fulham.
