FPL 2023-24 – Gameweek 12 Midfielders

-

As we start to turn our attention to the next round of Premier League fixtures, it’s time to run the role over those midfield picks who could deliver a big haul during Gameweek 12.

West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen (£7.5m) continues to prove himself to be a hugely valuable FPL asset. The attacking midfielder netted his seventh goal of the season in Gameweek 11, picking up 7 fantasy points in total and taking his overall score across the campaign to 67. While Bowen is not as potent at home as he is on his travels, the quality he possesses going forward makes him well-worth owning come Gameweek 12, which sees the Hammers host Nottingham Forest.

It was a Gameweek 11 to forget for the two highest-scoring midfield assets in FPL as it stands. Both Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) and Heung-min Son (£9.6m) recorded just 2 points across their respective fixtures, Liverpool drawing 1-1 against Luton and nine-man Spurs losing 1-4 at the hands of Chelsea. But Salah has found the net at least once in all five of Liverpool’s home Premier League fixtures so far this season, accumulating 47 fantasy points across those specific matches. With that in mind, expect plenty of FPL bosses to put their eggs in Salah’s basket in Gameweek 12 as Liverpool welcome Brentford to Anfield. Spurs travel to the Wolves with Son looking to extend a run of six attacking returns in as many gameweeks, despite his blank this past Monday.

Gameweek 12 is expected to be one which sees Arsenal midfielders attract significant fantasy attention, not least Bukayo Saka (£8.6m), who is the highest owned FPL asset in his position. The England international will be looking to take out his and his side’s frustration on Nottingham Forest following their controversial Gameweek 11 loss away at Newcastle. Gabriel Martinelli (£7.7m) is another Gunners player who could well prove a profitable investment.

Having scored a late winner for Man Utd against Fulham last time out in the Premier League, Bruno Fernandes (£8.3m) is also likely to appear on the radar of many FPL managers with the Red Devils at home to Luton in Gameweek 12. The Hatters are yet to keep a Premier League clean sheet this season, underlining the potential of Fernandes, who has recorded three double-figure points hauls already in 2023-24.
