Fantasy forward lines come under the spotlight here as we discuss strikers ahead of Gameweek 13.
The top point-scorer of the week among forwards was a familiar name, with Erling Haaland (£14.0m) helping himself to two goals and an assist in the thrilling 4-4 draw with Chelsea. That contribution resulted in 16 FPL points, which tied captaincy rival Mo Salah’s score from the previous day. The two face off in Gameweek 13 in a mouthwatering fixture between Man City and Liverpool, but Haaland owners will be sweating over the striker’s fitness as he picked up a knock while on international duty with Norway. All eyes will be on Pep Guardiola’s pre-match press conference.
Although he features in less than 4% of FPL squads at present, Dominic Solanke (£6.4m) has been ticking over nicely this season, and recorded his highest score of the season in Gameweek 12 when his brace against Newcastle yielded 13 points. The Cherries take on Sheffield Utd this weekend, so it could be time to invest in Solanke, especially as only three forwards have accumulated more points over the course of the season.
After going two consecutive Premier League games without recording an attacking return for the first time this season, Ollie Watkins (£8.5m) returned to his scoring ways in Gameweek 12 by scoring in Aston Villa’s 3-1 victory over Fulham. Villa face a tricky away match at Spurs in Gameweek 13, but Watkins – comfortably the second highest point scorer among forwards overall – remains a highly sought-after FPL asset.
Much-maligned by FPL managers earlier in the season, Nicholas Jackson (£6.8m) has started to find his feet at Chelsea, and after his hat-trick against Spurs in Gameweek 11, he produced an assist in the draw with Man City last time out. Chelsea’s fixture run remains tough, with an away trip to Newcastle awaiting in Gameweek 13, but Jackson is playing with confidence right now and could be a crafty differential option for those managers looking to go against the grain this weekend.
