FPL 2023-24 – Gameweek 14 Goalkeepers

-

With just two Premier League teams keeping clean sheets kept last weekend, it wasn’t a great gameweek for goalkeepers, but who should you consider for Gameweek 14? We take a look.

For all their critics this season, Man Utd are managing to string some results together in the Premier League, and Andre Onana (£4.8m) has been a key part of that. Gameweek 13 saw him help his side keep a third straight clean sheet in the division, and coupled with his six saves and one bonus point, the Red Devils number one produced nine FPL points. Erik ten Hag’s side have a tough Gameweek 14 fixture though, as they travel to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle. With this in mind, FPL bosses are largely steering clear of the Cameroonian right now, but another shutout would surely increase his appeal.

The only other clean sheet in Gameweek 13 was that of Aaron Ramsdale (£4.7m), who was only playing because Arsenal’s first-choice shot stopper David Raya (£4.9m) was ineligible to face Brentford – his parent club. Although Ramsdale did not concede against the Bees, it wasn’t exactly a convincing display from him, and it seems highly likely that Raya will return between the sticks for the Gunners’ meeting with Wolves at the Emirates Stadium in Gameweek 14.

An injury to Alisson Becker (£5.6m) – the top overall point-scorer in his position – will keep the Brazilian out of action for a couple of weeks, and given the congested fixture schedule, Liverpool number two Caoimhin Kelleher (£3.9m) could get a fairly decent run-in the team which, from a Premier League perspective, begins with the home clash against Fulham this weekend. Budget-hunters should seriously consider drafting in the Irishman, for what is a generous run of fixtures for the Reds.

Elsewhere, Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken (£4.5m) looks a decent option in Gameweek 14 with the Bees entertaining promoted side Luton at the Gtech Community Stadium, while popular budget option Alphonse Areola (£4.3m) will hope to keep a first clean sheet in seven Premier League games as West Ham host Crystal Palace on Sunday.
