Gameweek 17 Differential XI
Arsenal fielded a second-string starting XI away at Lens in the Champions League midweek and despite scoring in that fixture, Eddie Nketiah (£5.4m) is expected to make way for Gabriel Jesus (£7.9m). Leandro Trossard (£6.5m) is also likely to lose his place in the team should Gabriel Martinelli (£7.8m) have recovered from illness in time to play against Brighton.
Roberto De Zerbi started Joao Pedro (£5.4m) in Brighton’s Europa League clash with Marseille this past Thursday and was handsomely rewarded as the Brazilian netted the winning goal. Whether he stays in the team for his side’s trip to Emirates Stadium in Gameweek 17 however, is up for debate with fellow forward Evan Ferguson (£6.0m) chomping at the bit to start. It could be the case that both feature in the starting line-up.
Another forward debate going into Gameweek 17 is whether Darwin Nunez (£7.6m) or Cody Gakpo (£7.2m) will start for Liverpool against Man Utd. The former started in Gameweek 16, while Gakpo was selected in their Europa League game on Thursday. It’s worth noting though, that both players starred in the same fixture last season, scoring twice in a 7-0 thrashing and this may well be in Jurgen Klopp’s thoughts when he comes to naming his side. Perhaps Luis Diaz (£7.4m) could be a surprise omission.
Man City can’t really afford to rotate ahead of the Club World Cup due to the number of injuries plaguing their squad. This means the likes of Julian Alvarez (£6.9m), Phil Foden (£7.4m) and Jack Grealish (£7.2m) should all keep their places in what is seen as an enticing Gameweek 17 fixture at home to Crystal Palace. Especially with Erling Haaland (£14.0m) being a huge injury doubt.
