As another round of English top flight fixtures approaches, we’re looking at the current main bandwagon picks among the Fantasy Premier League community heading into Gameweek 6.
As it stands, one player is making a name for himself as comfortably the primary bandwagon across this past week. Julian Alvarez (£6.9m) continues to rack up attacking returns and FPL managers are continuing to purchase him in their droves. He has almost reached 700,000 transfers in at the time of writing between Gameweek 5 and the upcoming Gameweek 6. It’s easy to see why, the Argentinian having recorded four assists, a goal and 23 fantasy points over the past two gameweeks. Only teammate Erling Haaland has more points to his name. A brace against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League only further emphasis the good form he is in, which bodes well for Gameweek 6 as Man City host Nottingham Forest.
Another popular recent bandwagon comes within the Newcastle defence. Sven Botman (£4.5m) represents a cheap route into the Magpies’ starting XI and with their fixtures beginning to turn, FPL bosses are starting to jump on board. Botman accrued 9 points in Gameweek 5 thanks to a clean sheet and three bonus points as Newcastle defeated Brentford 1-0. Gameweek 6 sees Eddie Howe’s side travel to Sheffield Utd, who have just a point to their name in the Premier League so far.
It’s taken perhaps a little longer than expected, but fantasy managers are finally starting to recognise the brilliant form of James Ward-Prowse (£6.2m), who has gained nearly 200,000 new owners since the conclusion of Gameweek 5. The West Ham midfielder is coming off the back of another two assists in the Hammers’ midweek Europa League game and is yet to ‘blank’ this season in the Premier League. A tough Gameweek 6 fixture away at Liverpool doesn’t seem to have put off the community.
