Coming off the back of the opening group stage round in each of UEFA’s three club competitions makes rotation a primary concern for lots of FPL managers. With that in mind, we highlight a selection of assets that could be most at risk of not starting in Gameweek 6.
Numerous Injuries to Man City players has reduced the risk of rotation for key FPL assets such as Julian Alvarez (£6.9m) Phil Foden (£7.6m) and Erling Haaland (£14.1m). However, we would be fools to underestimate Pep Guardiola on the rotation front and with a friendly fixture on paper against Nottingham Forest, it would be no surprise to see him spring an unpleasant surprise. Defender Nathan Ake (£5.1m) started vs Red Star Belgrade in midweek and he looks a prime candidate for potential rotation with both Manuel Akanji (£5.0m) and Josko Gvardiol (£5.1m) threats to his minutes.
Diogo Jota (£7.9m) and Cody Gakpo (£7.3m) got the nod alongside Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) for Liverpool in Gameweek 5. But that trio could well be rotated again come Gameweek 6 as both Luis Diaz (£7.7m) and Darwin Nunez (£7.4m) made their cases on Thursday night. They each scored against LASK in the Europa League, giving FPL managers a headache prior to Gameweek 6, which sees Liverpool take on West Ham.
Alexander Isak (£7.6m) was awarded the start over Callum Wilson (£7.8) in Milan midweek as the Magpies played out a highly credible 0-0 draw in their opening Champions League group stage fixture. But Wilson, who scored Newcastle’s winning penalty over Brentford in Gameweek 5 is all but certain to get the nod in Gameweek 6 away at Sheffield Utd. Meanwhile, the headache over who Mikel Arteta sees as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper continues, with David Raya (£4.8m) once again starting over Aaron Ramsdale (£5.0m) in the Champions League. A wise FPL manager would stay well clear of that particular conundrum.
