It was a high-scoring gameweek for many FPL managers, but which players were at the top of the tree? We take a look…
Kieran Trippier (£6.6m) – 18 Points
Trippier was hugely popular in FPL circles last season with his 16 clean sheets and nine assists making him an essential asset, but the Newcastle right-back did not register an attacking return in any of the first five gameweeks of the current campaign. That all changed in a big way in Gameweek 6 though, with the 33-year-old registering a hat-trick of assists in Newcastle’s tremendous 0-8 victory at Sheffield Utd. With three bonus points to boot, Trippier finished on 18 points, and he is already proving to be one of the most transferred in players ahead of Double Gameweek 7.
Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m) – 14 Points
It’s not often that one of the top performers of the week was a player who started the gameweek on the bench, but that is exactly the case with Kaoru Mitoma. The Brighton winger was somewhat surprisingly benched by Roberto De Zerbi for the Seagulls’ clash with Bournemouth on Sunday, but after a lacklustre first-half display, Mitoma was brought on at half-time. It took no time at all for the Japanese star to make an impact, putting his side level just 16 seconds into the second half, and he added a second later on to finish on an impressive 14 points.
Heung-Min Son (£9.2m) – 14 Points
A significant portion of FPL managers brought Son into their teams ahead of Tottenham’s meeting with Sheffield Utd last week, only to be disappointed with a two-pointer. However, those that kept faith with the South Korean were handsomely rewarded with 14 points in Sunday’s entertaining North London Derby. Currently playing in the central forward role under Ange Postecoglou, Son delivered a brace to rescue a point for Spurs – much to the delight of his FPL owners.
