FPL 2023-24 – Gameweek 6 Injury Update

-

It’s time to take a look at the injury situation surrounding some key FPL assets.

Rico Henry (£4.6m) – Brentford
After an assist against Tottenham in Gameweek 1, coupled with his budget-friendly price, Rico Henry had become a moderately popular defensive asset for FPL managers, but that is set to change in light of the Brentford defender suffering a serious knee injury. Henry went down awkwardly in the first half of the Bees’ fixture with Newcastle last weekend, and that will unfortunately prove to be his last taste of action for some time (possibly the whole season).

Status: UNAVAILABLE

Raphael Varane (£5.0m) – Man Utd
Varane hasn’t featured for Man Utd since coming off at half-time against Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 3, the prognosis looks positive ahead of the Red Devils’ trip to Burnley in Gameweek 6. The centre-back could even feature against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening, having returned to training midweek.

Status: LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.9m) – Liverpool
The attacking-full back missed the Gameweek 5 win over Wolves with a hamstring injury and is also set to miss Liverpool UEFA Europa League clash with LASK on Thursday. However, the premium-priced defender has been spotted doing light work on the grass as he steps up his recovery, and there is a chance he will he available for Sundays’s meeting with West Ham.

Status: 50/50

Solly March (£6.6m) – Brighton
Despite no mention of an injury in Robert De Zerbi’s pre-Gameweek 5 press conference, Solly March was absent from the Seagulls squad that faced Man Utd. It subsequently emerged that it was a ‘minor muscle issue’ that kept him out of action, and it certainly wouldn’t be surprising to see him back in the team in Gameweek 6. Indeed, the midfielder – still one of the top FPL point-scorers in his position this season – may even feature in Europe on Thursday.

Status: LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE

Gabriel Martinelli (£7.9m) – Arsenal
Martinelli only lasted 23 minutes of Arsenal’s clash with Everton on Sunday, before a hamstring injury cut short his participation. The Brazilian has been ruled out of the midweek UEFA Champions League tie with PSV, and the North London Derby on the weekend may come too early for his return to action.

Status: 50/50
