With the first double gameweek of the season now at an end, we highlight a group of forwards who look extremely enticing propositions from an FPL point of view leading up to Gameweek 8.
Double Gameweek 7 was the Ollie Watkins (£8.0m) show, as despite only having one fixture, you could be forgiven for thinking he had two. A mammoth return of 23 fantasy points came courtesy of a hat-trick and two assists in Aston Villa’s 6-1 mauling of Brighton. When Watkins is in form, it’s hard to keep him under wraps and FPL managers would be wise to explore transferring him in (or back in for some) ahead of Gameweek 8 when Aston Villa travel to Wolves.
Darwin Nunez (£7.4m) was clearly itching to come off the bench against Spurs, but was forced to sit and watch as his side was reduced to nine-men and beaten in the last minute. With Diogo Jota suspended and Cody Gakpo an injury doubt, Nunez is likely to be let loose from the start in Gameweek 8 against Aston Villa. He boasts two assists and a goal across his last two Premier League starts.
Whilst Erling Haaland (£14.1m) drew a blank in Double Gameweek 7, Man City teammate Julian Alvarez (£7.0m) made it eight attacking returns for the season with his side’s goal in their 2-1 defeat away at Wolves. The Argentinian has now accrued 32 fantasy points across the past four gameweeks, further underlining his Gameweek 8 appeal.
Also worthy of a mention is Lyle Foster (£5.0m), who marked his return from suspension with a crucial goal for Burnley last time out in their 1-2win vs Luton. Foster has quietly accumulated three Premier League goals already for Vincent Kompany’s side despite being suspended for two games. His price looks a bargain on paper with Burnley set to host Chelsea in Gameweek 8.
