FPL 2023-24 – Gameweek 9 Injury Update

-

With the international break now in full swing, we take a look at the injury situation surrounding some players of interest to FPL managers.

Mark Flekken (£4.5m) – Brentford
The Brentford number one missed the Gameweek 8 defeat to Man Utd through illness, but given the two-week break for international football, it would be a surprise if the Dutchman was to miss any more action.

Status: LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE

Andy Robertson (£6.6m) – Liverpool
Robertson has been an ever-present in the Premier League this season but that record is under threat now after he picked up a shoulder injury while playing for Scotland. The left-back has returned to Liverpool for treatment, and is a big doubt for the Merseyside Derby.

Status: 50/50

William Saliba (£5.6m) – Arsenal
It has been revealed that Saliba is suffering from chronic toe pain and the Frenchman was withdrawn from international duty as a result. This is most likely a precaution and we should expect to see the Arsenal centre-back feature in Gameweek 9.

Status: LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE

Reece James (£5.3m) – Chelsea
Chelsea’s marauding right-back would have been available in Gameweek 8 was it not for his one-game suspension for an FA charge, so the fit-again defender is likely to participate in Gameweek 9.

Status: AVAILABLE

Sven Botman (£4.7m) – Newcastle
A knee injury has seen Botman miss Newcastle’s last two Premier League games but all the signs coming out of the Magpies camp are that he should be fit to return to the side after the international break.

Status: LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE

Bukayo Saka (£8.6m) – Arsenal
After missing out in Gameweek 8, Saka was subsequently withdrawn from England duty in order to rehabilitate with his club, so all eyes will be on Mikel Arteta’s pre-Gameweek 9 press conference next week.

Status: 50/50

Kaoru Mitoma (£6.6m) – Brighton
Another player who has pulled out of international duty is Brighton’s Mitoma, with illness cited as the cause. Given the recovery time, the Japanese star should be available for Gameweek 9.

Status: LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE

Alexander Isak (£7.5m) – Newcastle
The Swede picked up an injury in the 2-2 draw with West Ham prior to the international break, and is now not being considered for Sweden duty. It remains to be seen whether or not he recovers in time for Gameweek 9.

Status: 50/50
