With the Gameweek 7 deadline drawing ever closer, we shine a spotlight on Luton forward Carlton Morris (£5.6m), who has the notorious fantasy bonus of playing for a Hatters side with two fixtures in Double Gameweek 7 and thus could prove worth his weight in FPL gold.
Key to Luton’s fairytale promotion to the Premier League last season, Carlton Morris has since proven himself as one of their players more than capable of making the step up and is adapting extremely well to the rigours of top flight football in England. Morris struck 20 Championship goals for the Hatters in the 2022-23 campaign, comfortably the best goalscoring return of his career and is starting to peak as a striker.
So far in his debut Premier League season as a regular starter, Morris has netted two of Luton’s three goals scored across the past six gameweeks. The caveat is that both of those goals came from the penalty spot, but this should not be held against the 27-year-old. Having scored both those penalties, there is no doubt as to who will step up should Rob Edwards’ side be awarded another spot kick over the course of Double Gameweek 7.
Luton are one of two teams who boast a pair of fixtures in Double Gameweek 7. Firstly, they travel to an Everton side still without a clean sheet in the Premier League this season. Following that, they host fellow promoted side Burnley at Kenilworth Road in what already feels like a must-win game from both teams’ perspective. Morris will surely start both matches, enhancing the potential of him gaining chances to score and thus opening up the possibility for a big points return that we see so often from high-value FPL players during a double gameweek.
