As the Gameweek 7 deadline hovers in near distance, we shine a spotlight on Burnley forward Zeki Amdouni (£5.4m), who has the well-known fantasy benefit of playing for a team who boast two fixtures in Double Gameweek 7 and thus could wind-up a high scoring FPL asset across the round of matches.
One of the best performers in Switzerland over the past couple of seasons, Zeki Amdouni was signed by newly promoted Burnley this past summer for an undisclosed fee in a bid to bolster their attacking options. The 22-year-old was a regular goalscorer for both Lausanne-Sport and then Basel, netting 37 goals across the past two seasons in all competitions. Such offensive prowess clearly impressed Vincent Kompany, who has given Amdouni plenty of minutes in his debut Premier League campaign.
The Swiss international’s first goal for the Clarets came in the League Cup away to Nottingham Forest, but this wasn’t the last time he would strike at the City Ground. Less than three weeks later, Burnley were back at Nottingham Forest, this time in the Premier League and Amdouni marked the occasion by netting his first league goal for Burnley, bagging 8 FPL points in the process.
Lyle Foster had started the season as Vincent Kompany’s first-choice striker, but his red card in the same match where Amdouni scored saw him dealt a three-match suspension. Foster will therefore miss both of Burnley’s fixtures in Double Gameweek 7, away to Newcastle and Luton respectively. With that in mind, the responsibility of gaining attacking returns falls largely on the shoulders of Amdouni, who is likely to be afforded significant minutes in each game, highlighting his FPL appeal for this round. Having proven himself in the English top flight, expect Amdouni to kick on further now.
