As the international weekend reaches its conclusion Gameweek 13 starts to loom large over Fantasy Premier League managers and with that in mind, we cast a spotlight on Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah (£13.0m), who will expect to continue his recent goal glut this coming weekend.
While Salah is always expected to be one of the top fantasy performers in any given season, the Egyptian has demonstrated his quality throughout the 2023-24 campaign so far. Listed as a midfielder in FPL, Salah plays as part of a front three for Liverpool and regularly reaps the rewards. Across this Premier League season so far, he has recorded 14 attacking returns, consisting of ten goals and four assists.
Gameweek 12 saw Salah become the first FPL asset of the campaign to break the triple-figure point mark, after his two goals and 16 points gained against Brentford took his overall fantasy score of 101 points, more than anyone else within the FPL player-base. This is no surprise when considering that three of the past five gameweeks have seen Salah accrue scores of 15 points or more. Since Gameweek 8, the 31-year-old has racked up seven goals and 57 fantasy points.
Salah’s vast FPL ownership will have been nervously hoping he avoided any injury while playing for Egypt across the international break, but instead they got to see him net an incredible four goals against Djibouti in a 6-0 victory for the Pharoahs and they’ll all be hoping his hot streak in front of goal continues when he links back up with Liverpool for Gameweek 13.
The Reds travel to Premier League champions Man City, an opponent whom Salah is normally afforded plenty of joy against. Pep Guardiola’s side tend to operate a high line as they look to dominate possession, which can lead them open to the counter-attack against Jurgen Klopp’s men. Salah has found the net in each of his last four matches in all competitions against Man City and boasts 11 goals overall, plus five assists vs his Gameweek 13 opponents.
