FPL 2023-24 – Spotlight On Phil Foden Ahead Of Gameweek 15

-

With just over 24 hours since the conclusion of Gameweek 14, we’re already less than 24 hours away from the Gameweek 15 deadline. With an eye on this, we take a deep dive into the FPL pedigree of Man City midfielder Phil Foden (£7.5m), who will expect to continue his recent goal glut this coming weekend.

Man City midfield assets are usually extremely popular within the FPL community due to their high ceiling playing for a side who score as many goals as the Premier League champions. However, Phil Foden has struggled to command a large ownership throughout the current campaign due to his lack of noticeable point-hauls. However, signs are emerging that this may be changing imminently.

As it stands this season, Foden has accrued four league goals, three assists and 66 fantasy points. But has failed to produce any real significant fantasy consistency and has just one double-figure haul to his name. This past week though has seen somewhat of an offensive breakthrough for the England international and could trigger a hot streak.

Against RB Leipzig in the Champions League, Foden accumulated two assists and found the net himself. The midfielder then backed that up this past weekend against Spurs with another goal, ultimately netting 9 FPL points after being awarded two of the three allocated bonus points. Four attacking returns across Man City’s last two games in all competitions certainly represents progress.

Pep Guardiola’s side travel to Aston Villa in Gameweek 15, a team who has failed to keep a single Premier League clean sheet since back in Gameweek 6, that’s a run of eight consecutive league games without a shut-out. On this basis, it would be no surprise to see Foden in the thick of things again for Man City from an attacking point of view and afforded chances to extend his recent streak of attacking returns.
